Establishing a Business and Investing in China

Why China is opening as a market to the World! Your business opportunities in China.

China, with its vast and booming economy, offers wonderful business opportunities to companies throughout the world. With an economic performance of almost 9 per cent growth in 2009, China beats all     other major world economies.  Economists have been known to play around with numbers, but of the four so-called 'BRIC' emerging markets - Brazil, Russia, India, and China, they all agree that China is by far the most important of these. Here are a few of the major industry sectors currently experiencing rapid growth:

Food and beverages, Travel and transport, IT and telecommunications, Minerals and energy, Environmental protection, Building construction products and services.

There are 3 primary ways to establish a business presence in China. We also promote a 4th way! The well-known routes are a representative office (RO) which requires little investment,  a Joint Venture (Equity JV or Contractual JV) where the foreign corporation takes a (minority) stake and invests in the joint venture and a full wholly owned Chinese Corporation (WFOE) where all business investment in China stays within the full control of the foreign owners. Although a Representative Office is a relatively inexpensive way of having a presence in China, it severely restricts the type of activities you can undertake and is not recommended as a solution by us. We specialize in assisting companies to establish a full trading presence in China with either a JV or WFOE and allowing full currency conversion services allowing you to get your money out of China - as well as putting your money in!

Our 4th Way: Is allowing you to test the market by allowing you to trade on-line within China without needing any physical presence. We act as your facilitators for handling invoicing, transferring currencies and can assist in translation, designing or localising your website, setting up e-commerce plus finding appropriate markets and then selling to them. Only if you find that there is a need for a physical presence to enhance your sales need you look at the various options available.

However, if you do not require a trading presence in China but want to open a Representative Office - please find more information here: http://www.chinaorbit.com/china-economy/china-business/representative-office-in-china.html. Note: Representative Offices may NOT conduct trading activities within China but may only represent a foreign corporation. Only the parent company can invoice in their appropriate currency services or goods provided to China. As most Chinese businesses and consumers have limited or no access to foreign exchange, this can be severely restrictive.
