Directories and Search Engines
There are two types of search facility on the web. These are:
Directories such as Yahoo and the ODP where a human being physically looks at a web site and decides if and where your site should be listed. These directories have international and versions for specific regions such as the UK and Ireland.
Search Engines which use automated robots known as 'spiders' to 'crawl' the Web looking for pages to list.
Directories are the most important place on the Web for a site to be listed. Yahoo and Yahoo UK and Ireland plus Google account for 60% of all searches made on the 'net in the UK and Ireland.
